Pillars of Justice
Court Liaison / Case Management

The Court Liaison is the point of contact between the court system, behavioral health providers, and the individuals who are court-ordered to complete a behavioral health evaluation and the resulting treatment recommendations. The Court Liaison attends both jailable traffic and criminal District Court dockets daily, providing status reports to the court regarding compliance with treatment.

If an individual is not currently enrolled in treatment, referrals to providers and proper releases of information are signed the day of court. The Court Liaison monitors individuals ordered under unsupervised probation or have a stet agreement to complete a behavioral health evaluation and the resulting treatment recommendations and informs the court if the individual is not in compliance with treatment or fails to enroll.

If an individual is currently incarcerated and authorized by the court to be allowed to attend inpatient treatment, the Court Liaison facilitates the placement and gets final authorization from the court.

The Court Liaison also attends meetings for both the District Court Mental Health docket and Circuit Court Drug Court, providing updates, as needed. Lastly, the Court Liaison provides the Division of Parole and Probation, the Department of Juvenile Services, and the Pretrial Unit of the Calvert County Detention Center monthly reports for clients enrolled in treatment through Calvert County Behavioral Health.

Court Diversion Program

The Court Diversion Program for Young Adults was developed to divert young offenders (ages 18-25) from the formal court process while holding them accountable and protecting public safety. The program is designed to promote self-sufficiency, sobriety, safety, and enhance the chances of young adults returning to the community more prepared to be a productive citizen, thus fostering life stability and freedom from the barriers one may experience with a criminal background. The Court Diversion Program for Young Adults was created by Calvert County Behavioral Health and the Calvert County State’s Attorney Office.
